Older issues such as the Rangarajan notes, star-note bundles and fancy serial runs are the ones that hold value here.These are collector bundles, not face-value currency. The RBI does not sell note packets to the public, and a collectible bundle is priced above the face value it contains — what you are paying for is the condition, the serial run and the fact that the packet has stayed intact.
