Step back to the mid-19th century with this genuine 1840 Quarter Rupee silver coin, issued by the powerful East India Company during the formative years of Queen Victoria’s reign. Struck at the historic Calcutta Mint, this precious piece of British India coinage captures the imperial ambitions of an era that shaped modern South Asia. On the obverse, it features the youthful, uncrowned bust of the young monarch, paired with a classic wreath design enclosing the denomination on the reverse. Graded in Fine condition with heavy, honest circulation wear, this silver piece tells a tangible story of past commerce and colonial history. Numismatists and history enthusiasts prize these early Victoria issues for their age, intrinsic silver content, and direct ties to the East India Company's currency system before the Crown took direct control.
