Step back into the turbulent era of World War II with this fascinating 1 Anna coin, struck in 1943 during the reign of King George VI, Emperor of India. Crafted from durable nickel-brass, this distinctive twelve-notched scalloped flan was designed to be easily recognized by touch in bustling wartime markets. The obverse showcases the majestic crowned bust of the King, while the reverse features a striking multi-lingual layout displaying the denomination in English, Hindi, and Urdu. Minted at the historic Calcutta Mint—indicated by the traditional absence of a mint mark beneath the date—this piece bears the honest character of circulation wear, featuring an even, pleasing tone and a dark patina on the crown that tells its own wartime story.
