British India Victoria Divided Legend 1840 One Rupee Silver Coin High Grade Unc

This is a British India Victoria Divided Legend One Rupee coin from 1840, struck in .917 fine silver during the height of British Indian rule. The Divided Legend variety features Queen Victoria's portrait with the royal legend split between obverse and reverse—a distinctive characteristic that defines this scarce issue. Graded in high Uncirculated condition, this coin displays virtually no wear and retains original mint lustre, making it exceptionally desirable to collectors and numismatists worldwide. The 1840 rupee represents a pivotal chapter in Indian monetary history, issued under Company rule before the formal Crown takeover. Specimens in this grade are increasingly rare, as most surviving pieces show wear from over a century and a half of circulation. This particular example's pristine state makes it both a numismatic treasure and a tangible connection to 19th-century India. An excellent addition to any serious British India collection or for investors seeking authentic precious metal antiquities.
