2 Rupees MUDRA Series 2009 Calcutta Mint "WRONG PLANCHET" Struck on 1 Rupee Planchet Error in Collectable Grade.

This 2009 MUDRA Series 2 Rupees coin from the prestigious Calcutta Mint is a remarkable error strike that belongs in any serious numismatic collection. What makes this piece exceptional is the striking error—it was minted on a 1 Rupee planchet instead of the correct denomination planchet, creating a unique numismatic anomaly. Struck in Stainless Steel (FSS), this coin retains the intended obverse and reverse designs despite the substrate mismatch. Graded as a collectible piece, it showcases the off-specification characteristics that make error coins highly sought after by enthusiasts worldwide. The MUDRA series itself represents an important initiative in Indian coinage, and this particular specimen captures a fascinating moment of mint imprecision. Error coins command premium valuations due to their rarity and the manufacturing narrative they tell. This striking oddity appeals to collectors who appreciate the intersection of numismatic significance and mechanical anomaly.
