Minted in 1106 (Travancore calendar), this rare silver coin was issued by the Kingdom of Travancore, one of the most prominent princely states of Kerala. The Fanam was a standard monetary unit in Travancore during this period, and this particular specimen exemplifies the craftsmanship and economic systems of medieval South India. This coin is crafted from genuine silver, showcasing fine detail work characteristic of Travancore coinage. What makes this piece exceptionally collectible is its age, rarity, and historical significance—coins from this era rarely survive in good condition. The 1106 Travancore Fanam is highly sought after by serious collectors of Indian numismatics, particularly those focusing on princely state currencies and Kerala's rich mercantile past. Collectors value this coin for its tangible connection to Travancore's royal heritage and its role in regional trade history.
