INDIAN COUNCIL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH-2011 MUMBAI MINT 2 COIN ((PROOF SET))

This is a 2011 commemorative Proof Coin Set issued by the Government of India to honor the Centenary Year of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the nation's premier biomedical research body established in 1911. The set comprises two coins — a Rs. 100 and a Rs. 5 denomination — struck in proof quality at the prestigious Mumbai Mint, known for producing India's finest collector-grade coinage. Each coin features intricate detailing, mirror-like fields, and frosted design elements characteristic of proof strikes, reflecting superior craftsmanship compared to standard circulation coins. The commemorative theme pays tribute to a century of medical research excellence in India, making it historically significant for collectors interested in institutional and scientific commemorative numismatics. Proof sets like this are minted in limited numbers, making them highly sought after among numismatists and collectors of Indian commemorative coinage. Their scarcity, official mint certification, and thematic significance add to their long-term collectible and investment value. Ideal for coin enthusiasts, historians, and those building a specialized commemorative coin collection, this set represents both a piece of India's medical history and a fine example of the Mumbai Mint's proof coinage artistry.
