SAINT ALPHONSA BIRTH CENTENARY 1910-2009 MUMBAI MINT 2 COIN ((PROOF SET))

This exquisite 2-Coin Proof Set commemorates the Birth Centenary (1910–2009) of Saint Alphonsa, India's first canonized saint, who was elevated to sainthood by Pope Benedict XVI in 2008. Struck at the prestigious Mumbai Mint under the authority of the Government of India, this set typically comprises a Rs. 5 and Rs. 100 denomination coin, both crafted in high-grade proof finish—showcasing mirror-like surfaces, sharp detailing, and frosted design elements that distinguish proof coins from regular circulation strikes. Saint Alphonsa, born in Kerala in 1910, is revered for her life of devotion and sacrifice, and this commemorative issue was minted to honor her legacy and centenary milestone. Such religious-historical commemorative coins are issued in limited numbers, making them highly sought after by numismatists, religious collectors, and history enthusiasts alike. The proof set's superior strike quality, historical significance, and limited mintage make it a valuable addition to any coin collection. Ideal for collectors seeking rare commemorative Indian coinage, this set represents a perfect blend of faith, history, and numismatic artistry—an excellent piece for display or long-term investment.
