The Government of Bangladesh issued this 2 taka banknote to commemorate 40 years of Independence. The obverse side exhibits the National Martyrs Monument in Savar, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the national emblem of Bangladesh. The reverse side features the Shaheed Minar (Martyrs Monument) of the Language Movement in Dhaka. The note has a solid security thread. Its watermarks are an electrotyped 2 and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The note is 100 mm long and 60 mm wide.
