Cambodia 1 Riel Banknote 1979 P28 UNC Unique and Rare

This exceptional Cambodia 1 Riel banknote from 1979 represents a fascinating piece of post-war Southeast Asian currency history. Issued during the early reconstruction period following the Khmer Rouge regime, this P28 specimen showcases the State Bank of Cambodia's efforts to restore monetary stability. Graded in UNC (Uncirculated) condition, this note displays pristine preservation with crisp paper quality and vibrant original coloring—a remarkable achievement for a nearly 45-year-old note from this tumultuous era. The 1979 issue is particularly scarce in high grades, making this an essential acquisition for serious banknote collectors focused on Asian currencies or twentieth-century political history. Its rarity stems from limited circulation and the challenging preservation conditions of post-conflict Cambodia. Perfect for numismatists seeking historically significant, internationally significant pieces that combine both numismatic and historical value.
