This is an Italy 100,000 Lire banknote from the second type series, issued by the Bank of Italy (Banca d'Italia) between 1994 and 1998. This substantial denomination represents a significant piece of Italian numismatic history, issued during the final years of the Lira before Italy's transition to the Euro in 2002. The note features a stunning artistic design centered on Caravaggio's masterpiece "Buona Ventura" (The Fortune Teller), one of the Renaissance master's most iconic works. The obverse also displays a portrait of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio himself, celebrating the legendary Italian artist's cultural legacy. Measuring 156 × 70 mm and printed on paper, this rectangular banknote exemplifies the sophisticated design standards of late 20th-century Italian currency. As a pre-Euro currency note, this collectible has become increasingly sought after by numismatists and history enthusiasts worldwide. The artistic significance combined with its historical context—marking the end of an era for Italian currency—makes this a compelling addition to any collection. Its rarity, especially in well-preserved condition, enhances its appeal to serious collectors who appreciate both artistic merit and monetary history. #
