Peru 1000 Intis Banknote 1988 P136b2 UNC Unique and Rare

This Peru 1000 Intis banknote from 1988 (P136b2) represents a significant piece of South American currency history during Peru's hyperinflationary period. Graded UNC (Uncirculated), this note exhibits pristine condition with sharp printing, vibrant colors, and no visible wear—a remarkable preservation for a note now over three decades old. The Intis currency, introduced in 1985 as part of Peru's economic reform under President Alan García, was short-lived before being replaced by the Nuevo Sol in 1991, making surviving high-denomination notes increasingly scarce. This particular specimen's rarity is amplified by its exceptional state and the challenging economic circumstances that led many notes to be spent rather than preserved. Numismatists and world currency collectors prize Peruvian Intis for their historical significance and relative scarcity in premium grades. An ideal addition for those building comprehensive Latin American collections or focusing on inflationary-period currency artifacts.
