Description
This is an exceptional piece of Philippine numismatic history—a 25 Centavos banknote issued in 1942 by the Province of Bohol's Emergency Currency Board. Minted during one of the most turbulent periods in Philippine history, this note represents the resourcefulness of local authorities during World War II when traditional currency supply chains were disrupted by Japanese occupation.
The 1942 Bohol emergency currency was a critical monetary instrument, enabling commerce and daily transactions in the province when standard Philippine pesos were scarce or inaccessible. This particular denomination and issue are increasingly difficult to locate in original condition, making them highly sought after by serious collectors of Asian banknotes and World War II-era currency.
What makes this note particularly valuable is its historical significance and genuine rarity. Surviving examples from this emergency period are scarce, as many were lost, damaged, or destroyed over the decades. Collectors prize these notes for their authentic connection to a pivotal moment in Philippine history, combining numismatic interest with historical artifact value. Whether you're a dedicated banknote collector, a Philippine history enthusiast, or someone seeking investment-grade vintage currency, this 1942 Bohol 25 Centavos represents a tangible piece of WWII-era Asian history.
