This Vietnam 500 Dong note from 1988 represents a fascinating piece of Southeast Asian numismatic history. Issued by the State Bank of Vietnam during the Socialist Republic era, this standard circulation banknote showcases the currency system that emerged from the Second new đồng period (1985-present). Measuring 130 × 65 mm, the note features the classic rectangular design characteristic of Vietnamese currency from this transformative decade. The 1988-1989 issue is particularly appealing to collectors seeking authentic examples of post-reunification Vietnamese monetary history. The note's GEM UNC (Gem Uncirculated) condition indicates it has been exceptionally preserved, maintaining its original crispness and vibrant appearance despite its age—a rarity for circulation notes from this period. Each purchase includes a note with a different serial number, adding individuality to your collection. This banknote serves as both a tangible investment and a historical artifact, capturing Vietnam's economic reconstruction era. For serious numismatists and history enthusiasts, acquiring vintage Vietnamese currency offers insight into the nation's monetary evolution. The scarcity of well-preserved examples in GEM condition makes this an excellent addition to any world currency collection.
