is celebrated as the pinnacle of maternal love (vatsalya bhakti). While Krishna was born to Devaki and Vasudeva, he was raised by Yashoda and her husband Nanda in the village of Gokul to protect him from his tyrannical uncle, King Kamsa.

The Divine Relationship

The Protective Mother: Yashoda is revered as Krishna’s foster mother, who nurtured and protected him throughout his childhood.
A Bond of Affection: Their relationship is often used to illustrate that the bond of love and care can be as strong, if not stronger, than biological ties.
The “Damodara” Lila: One of their most famous stories involves Yashoda trying to tie a mischievous Krishna to a wooden mortar with a rope to stop his antics. The rope was always two fingers too short until Krishna, moved by her love and effort, allowed himself to be bound.
