5 Rs Komagata Maru Incident Kolkata Mint Coin UNC

This is a 5 Rupees commemorative coin issued by the Calcutta Mint (Kolkata) to honor the historic Komagata Maru incident. Minted in nickel, this UNC (Uncirculated) specimen represents an important chapter in India's freedom struggle and maritime history. The Komagata Maru incident of 1914 involved a Japanese ship carrying Indian passengers who were denied entry to Canada, becoming a symbol of resistance against colonial racism and immigration discrimination. This numismatic piece preserves that pivotal moment in numismatic form. In pristine UNC condition, this coin exhibits sharp striking details, brilliant luster, and no signs of wear—making it a premium collectible. The Kolkata Mint designation adds regional significance and authenticity to this piece. Collectors and history enthusiasts highly value this coin for its dual appeal: both as a tangible piece of numismatic art and as a historical artifact commemorating an important pre-independence event. Its uncirculated state and specialized commemorative subject matter make it a sought-after addition to Indian coin collections, particularly for those focusing on freedom struggle themes or Kolkata Mint rarities.
