Description

A Republic India two rupees of 2007 from the Unity in Diversity definitive series, pulled from the mint error lot for a clear die rotation. With the four-arm cross reverse held upright, the Lion Capital face is turned roughly 150 degrees, leaving the emblem inverted, the numeral 2 swung to the upper left and the date climbing the right-hand side.

  • Main error: rotated die, the emblem face turned about 150 degrees against the reverse, where this type should be struck in medal alignment
  • Denomination: 2 Rupees, Republic India decimal coinage
  • Year: 2007, legible although displaced by the rotation
  • Mint: not confirmed, as the area below the date is worn and carries no readable mark
  • Metal: ferritic stainless steel
  • Diameter: about 28.1 mm, with the rim complete all the way round, so no broadstrike
  • Condition: Fine, with honest circulation wear and a few post-mint scratches across the emblem face
  • Mint: Calcutta Mint

Add a captivating striking anomaly to your numismatic cabinet with this Republic India 2 Rupees coin, issued in 2007 during the enduring "Unity in Diversity" definitive series. Struck in durable ferritic stainless steel at the prestigious Calcutta Mint, this circulated piece carries a remarkable mechanical mishap: a dramatic die rotation error. When holding the four-arm cross reverse completely upright, the obverse Lion Capital emblem is strikingly skewed by approximately 150 degrees. Graded in Fine condition, the coin displays honest circulation wear and minor post-mint surface scratches that bear witness to its journey through commerce before its discovery. Advanced error collectors actively seek out such dramatic minting misalignments because they offer a fascinating glimpse into the high-speed, imperfect reality of mass coin production. As mint quality control usually catches and destroys major misalignments, surviving specimens hold substantial appeal for specialists of Republic India errors. You will receive the exact unique coin photographed, making this a conversation-starting centerpiece for any specialized modern Indian coinage assembly.
