Issued during a period of economic transition, this definitive 1 Rupee coin is struck from durable copper-nickel and immediately stands out due to its distinctive eleven-sided (undecagonal) shape. Minted at the historic Calcutta (Kolkata) facility, this specimen lacks a mint mark beneath its 1985 date, a subtle detail treasured by avid mint-mark specialists.
