King George V’s Silver Jubilee Medal 1935
This medal was created as the personal gift from the King to commemorate the Royal Silver Jubilee, celebrating 25 years reign, 1910 – 1935. The medal was awarded throughout the Empire to members of the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air force, officers of state, officials and servants of the royal household, ministers, government officials, mayors, public servants and local government, to name a few. 85,234 medals were struck.
Description: 32mm diameter in silver, with ball and ring type suspension. Obverse: the left facing conjoined busts of King George V and Queen Mary wearing the robes of state. Surrounding is the inscription GEORGE V AND QUEEN MARY MAY VI MCMXXXV. Reverse bears the crowned royal cypher with the accession date MAY 6 1910 to the left and the silver jubilee date MAY 6 1935 to the right.
