The May Revolution, which occurred in Buenos Aires on May 25, 1810, led to the establishment of the first Argentine government and the country’s independence from Spanish colonial rule. Argentina celebrated the 200th anniversary of this pivotal event in 2010 with a series of ceremonies and festivals, known as the Argentina Bicentennial. These celebrations marked the end of Spanish colonial rule and the beginning of Argentina’s journey towards independence.
