The obverse carries a spread of food produce beside wheat and sugarcane stalks, with the legends “FOOD AND NUTRITION” and “खाद्य एवं पोषकता”, below which appear “विश्व खाद्य दिवस”, “WORLD FOOD DAY” and the date 1992. The reverse shows the Lion Capital of Ashoka with the denomination.
