The Uganda 1000 Shillings 2002 Football Coin is a striking .999 fine silver non-circulating legal tender coin issued by the Bank of Uganda under the "World of Football" commemorative series. Weighing 25.10 grams with a diameter of 38.60 mm, this substantial silver coin showcases exceptional craftsmanship through its milled technique and reeded edge, reflecting the meticulous minting standards of the Republic of Uganda. The obverse proudly displays Uganda's national Coat of Arms alongside the inscription "FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY," Uganda's national motto, paired with the denomination and year. The reverse captures the global passion for football with an artistic globe design wrapped in a football pattern, celebrating the sport's universal appeal—likely tied to major football tournaments of the early 2000s era. This coin holds strong appeal for numismatists, silver bullion collectors, and football enthusiasts alike. Its high silver purity, limited mintage as a commemorative issue, and dual thematic significance (national pride plus global sport) make it a standout piece for any themed collection. Coins from African nations celebrating international football events are increasingly sought after, adding to their long-term collectible and investment potential. A wonderful addition for collectors seeking rare, meaningful world coins.
