The Uganda 1000 Shillings 2002 "Overhead Kick" coin is a striking non-circulating commemorative issue struck by the Bank of Uganda, celebrating the universal passion for football through a dynamic depiction of a player executing an overhead kick. Struck in .999 fine silver, this coin weighs 24.83 grams and measures 38.60mm in diameter, offering a substantial, satisfying heft that silver collectors appreciate. The milled edge and coin alignment (↑↓) reflect quality minting standards true to Uganda's modern numismatic output under the Republic era (1962-date). Football-themed coins are highly sought after by thematic collectors worldwide, especially those celebrating the sport's iconic moments and techniques like the overhead kick, a crowd-favorite move symbolizing athletic skill and flair. As a non-circulating legal tender piece, this coin was never meant for everyday transactions, making surviving examples relatively scarce and desirable among African coinage enthusiasts, silver bullion collectors, and sports memorabilia collectors alike. This piece marries numismatic history with sporting culture, making it a wonderful addition to any themed collection, gift for a football enthusiast, or a solid tangible silver asset. Its rarity, silver content, and unique design combine to make this a genuinely collectible piece worth owning.
