The Uganda 1000 Shillings 2002 Football Coin is a stunning non-circulating commemorative issue struck by the Bank of Uganda, celebrating the global passion for football through Uganda's "World of Football" numismatic series. Crafted in .999 fine silver, this coin weighs 25.10 grams and measures 38.60 mm in diameter, offering a substantial, high-purity piece that appeals to both silver stackers and thematic collectors. The obverse showcases Uganda's national coat of arms alongside the inscription "FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY," reflecting the nation's motto and post-independence identity. The reverse features an artistic depiction of a globe wrapped in a football pattern, symbolizing football's universal appeal—a fitting tribute issued around the era of major international tournaments that captured worldwide attention. Milled with a reeded edge and medal alignment, this coin exemplifies quality minting standards. Its limited mintage as part of a themed series makes it especially desirable among sports numismatics enthusiasts, silver collectors, and those building African coinage collections. With football-themed coins gaining increasing popularity among collectors worldwide, this piece offers both cultural significance and tangible silver value—making it a compelling addition to any serious or casual collection.
